Vilene

Vilene, what is it and why should I use it?

Vilene Interfacing is a non-woven fabric which is used as an extra layer in a garment to provide shape and support. A non-woven fabric means it is not woven or knitted, but instead created with a web of fibres, similar to felt.

I use Vilene to draw/draft my single sized patterns onto. You can draw on it with ball point pen, noting all the info from the master pattern. It sits well on the fabric when cutting and is more manoeuvrable than paper when cutting out your fabric pieces. plus it folds up small and stores well ready to use again. I get a roll of 50m as I use it a lot, I have learnt to write all the info on it after finding patterns of no description becoming quite redundant!

Find it at your local sewing supplier
